Thursday night, the Globe High School, Miami High School and San Carlos High School varsity volleyball teams all took the court.

Globe’s Lady Tigers played their third straight road game, against the Alchesay Lady Falcons, and fell short in a close match (3-2). No match statistics were available at press time. The Lady Tigers enjoyed a 2-1 record after season-opening road wins versus Arete Prep (3-1) and Ray (3-0). Next on Globe’s schedule are home games against San Tan Foothills Sept. 10, San Carlos Sept. 12 and Pima Sept. 13, then a visit to Miami’s Vargas Gymnasium to play the Lady Vandals Sept. 17.

Thursday night was Miami’s season opener. Hosting the Round Valley Lady Elks, the Lady Vandals suffered a 3-0 loss. No match statistics were available at press time. Miami went on to play Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Saturday in the Small School Invite tournament; results were unavailable at press time. The team hosted the Morenci Lady Wildcats Monday night. Next for Miami are three straight road games – at Hayden Sept. 10, at Benson Sept. 12 and at San Tan Foothills Sept. 16 – before the rivalry match with Globe Sept. 17.

The San Carlos Lady Braves sought their first win Thursday, visiting the Willcox Lady Cowboys, but fell short 3-0. No match statistics were available at press time. The Lady Braves stood at 0-3, with season-opening losses at home to Alchesay (3-0) and Fort Thomas (3-0). Next for San Carlos is a home game against Morenci Sept. 11, and road games against Globe Sept. 12 and Valley Sept. 14.
