Globe Fire Department to hold 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

Posted

The City of Globe Fire Department will be holding its first 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Sept. 1, 2023, at 6 p.m. The 1.3-mile course utilizing part of “Stairizona” will begin near the Center for the Arts, located at Broad Street and Oak Street in Downtown Globe, during the “First Friday Event.” We invite members of the community to join us for this event.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters, police and EMS who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live on 9-11-2001. Each participant pays tribute to an FDNY firefighter, police officer or EMS by climbing/walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of an FDNY brother or sister, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that each of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 10 EMS are honored, and that the world knows we will never forget.

The Globe Fire Department will be accepting donations and all proceeds will be donated to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. These 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs help the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation create and maintain programs that support fire service survivors. Your support of the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb events provides assistance to the surviving families and co-workers of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11, 2001, and all firefighter families who have had a “Line of Duty Death” since then.
