Roosevelt Lake is at 83% full; all the boat ramps are open. The Bobcat ramp is 14 feet at the end of the ramp. This is where the latest Let’s Talk Fishin (LTF) Night Tournament was held.

The team of Rocky Coffey and Robert Alvarez from Roosevelt caught the three-fish limit, weighing 13.74 lbs. with a 6.12 lb. big fish.

Second place went to the team of Luke and Milo Weisser from Tonto Basin, with 12.40 lbs. with a 4.67 lb. big fish.

Third and fourth place was a close race; .20 of a pound separated the team of Jacob Reynoso of Globe  and Anthony Avalos of San Carlos, weighing in at 11.57 lbs. with a big fish of 5.42 lbs., from Lyle Dalby of Apache Junction and Todd Graffe of Mesa, weighing in at 11.37 lbs. with a big fish of 5.83 lbs.

Fifth place went to the team of Jim and Levi Armstrong, with 10.48 lbs. with a big fish of 4.06 pounds.

Sixth place went to Kenny Meyers of Roosevelt and Freddy Valtierra of Globe, with a weight of 9.45 lbs. and a big fish of 5.02 pounds.

Other local anglers were John and Kerry Whaley from Payson (7th Place), Jimmy Shay and Mike Perkins of Globe (9th Place), John Fuqua and Justin Dicus of Star Valley (10th Place), Tanner Thomason and Joshua Reed of Payson (13th Place), and Jimmy and Trevor Johns of Tonto Basin (15th Place).

Here are some top secrets from anglers who fished the LTF Night Series: Buzz baits, spinnerbaits, jigs in green/brown or black colors, Carolina rig, 8-10-inch worms, and deep-diving crankbaits.

If you’re headed to the lake, make sure you have plenty of water because temperatures are still in the 100s. Keep an eye out for the monsoons; they can come up very unexpectedly. If you’re on the water when a monsoon storm hits, find a cove and wait for the storm to pass. Place your boat into the wind; stay away from the shore.

The monsoon storms coming in at any time after dark make the LTF Night Series a challenge. There were 38 teams that fished the series; all of them went home safely. The team of Jacob Reynoso and Anthony Avalos took home the Angler of the Year award. Their big fish of the season was 7.20 lbs.
