Maine child kidnapping suspect found in Globe

In an Oct. 9 news release, the Globe Police Department announced that a woman wanted in Maine for kidnapping her 4-year-old was located in the city and arrested.

According to the release, Kirsty Green and the child were found in an abandoned school bus parked on private property. Green, 29, was taken into custody and booked into the Gila County Jail on a fugitive warrant. The child was taken to the Globe Police Department, where the Arizona Department of Child Safety met with officers and took custody. The release said plans were underway to reunite the child with their parent/legal guardians in Maine.

The investigation started on Oct. 5 when a State of Maine district attorney reached out to Gila County Attorney Bradley Beauchamp. The Maine DA said there was reason to believe Green, who had no legal authority or custodial rights, had taken the child across the country and was living in Globe. Notified of this report, Globe police officers and detectives began the search; Green and the child were located later the same day.

Green is also being held for extradition to Maine, on a Somerset County Criminal Court arrest warrant for parental kidnapping of a minor.
