Miami gears up for pool reopening, new skate path

Posted

Miami has already seen some new community amenities introduced this year, under Town Manager Alexis Rivera, including a volleyball court and playground equipment in Veterans Memorial Park and a disc golf course at Bullion Plaza – and the Town isn’t done.

This Labor Day weekend, Miami is looking forward to the see completion of two more boons to the community – a reopened Hostetler Pool and a brand-new skate path at the south end of Bullion Plaza.

Last Friday, August 23, there was water in Hostetler Pool again as the Town looks forward to a Labor Day weekend re-opening. The pool already has brand new tiles, a water slide and a new deck.

Friday was also the seventh day of the skate path project, which Rivera said was a social investment in partnership with Resolution Copper. He said the contractor, American Ramp, was moving aggressively on the path’s construction. “They’re working 10 hours seven days a week,” he said. “They want to finalize it by next weekend.

“They have multiple projects right now in Arizona, most of the big projects out on the west side, and they came here to make this dream come true for the kids in Miami.”

Rivera said the skate path’s inauguration and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, September 21.

He also emphasized the role of partnerships in the town’s finished, ongoing and planned improvements – not only with Resolution on the skate path, but also with Capstone Copper for the volleyball court and playground equipment, Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center for the swimming pool, and Freeport McMoRan for the disc golf course and downtown area upgrades. “Everything that is done was a partnership between multiple stakeholders in the community of Miami,” he said.
