Law enforcement searches Globe-Miami for wanted man

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office, Gila County Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force and Globe Police Department are seeking a Claypool man with an active felony warrant, who is believed to be armed and dangerous.

On Wednesday afternoon, May 3, according to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation led to a search warrant being served at a Central Heights residence. The operation was part of an aggravated assault, weapons and felony warrant investigation involving Ruben Mageno, 34, of Claypool, whom law enforcement believe is in the Globe-Miami area. Mageno was not found at the residence, and the investigation was ongoing at press time.

During the operation the Sheriff’s Office warned community members to avoid the areas near Golden Hill and Russell Road near Yuma Trail and Lincoln Street, where there was a high police presence. The search warrant was served by the Drug, Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force, the Sheriff’s Office, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Globe Police Department and the San Carlos Apache Police Department.

Mageno, who goes by “Lil Rue,” is described by law enforcement as 5’7” and 215 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes, “Evil Side” tattooed under his eyes and numerous neck tattoos. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who sees him or has information on his whereabouts to call 911 or the Dispatch Communication Center at 928-425-4449.

With Mageno believed to be in the area, Miami schools instituted a security alert on their campuses Wednesday morning. This was later converted to a full lockdown with no visitors allowed when, in an unrelated case, a parent reportedly made threats over the telephone. A woman identified as Allyssa Courtney, 31, of Miami, was arrested and booked into the Gila County Jail for threatening or intimidating and interference-disruption of educational institutions by physical threat.
