On October 1 it was announced that Resolution Copper, a joint venture between Rio Tinto and BHP, had reached an agreement with Superior Unified School District for a $900,000 donation to the district. The donation, a Resolution Copper press release stated, was “to fund educational opportunities for students.”
“We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Resolution Copper,” said Superior Unified School District Superintendent Stephen Estatico. “This donation will be essential to providing the technology our students need to learn in a hybrid school environment, as well as continue additional student enrichment activities like CTE courses, student leadership, and boys’ and girls’ sports.”
Resolution Copper General Manager Vicky Peacey said Superior and the Copper Triangle was their home as well as where they work. “Education is something that we feel strongly about because it leads to opportunities,” she said. “We couldn’t be happier to support teachers and help students at Superior Unified School District develop the skills and confidence needed to lead the development of our region and make an impact.”
