Frank John DuFriend passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2024, at Pro-Medica Hospital in Toledo, Ohio with his husband by his side. Frank was born Feb. 2, 1968, in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Angela LaGrasse Antilla and Francis Edward Bingham.
Frank moved to Globe with his mother and brother Eric in 1969 and was adopted by his stepfather John DuFriend in 1972.
From 1980, Frank was raised by his mother and stepfather Gary Antilla. Frank met Rob Sanzenbacher on Sept. 21, 1997, and then married June 26, 2006. Frank graduated from Pima College in Tucson with high honors as a Registered Nurse and worked at hospitals in Tucson and San Diego until he and Rob moved to Toledo, Ohio. There he worked at the Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital where he was awarded the honor of Nurse of the Year in 2024.
Frank was a kind and compassionate man who traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe with his husband Rob. He continually strove to be a creative individual, leaving his mark with many friends and family members alike.
Frank is survived by his husband Rob Sanzenbacher; his parents, Gary Antilla and Angela Antilla; his father-in-law, George Sanzenbacher; brothers, Eric DuFriend (Brooke), Jefferson DuFriend (Deyon), and Michael Bingham (Katherine); several sisters and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins; and many, many friends - all of whom loved him very much. Frank cared for everyone around him with a smile that could light up a room. He will be truly missed by all his family, friends, and co-workers.
