A proud graduate of Globe High School in 1978, Dotty dedicated over 35 years to her career at Safeway, where she was a valued member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. Her commitment and hard work were a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication that was passed down from her father.

In 1983, Dotty married the love of her life, Stephen (Steve) York, and together they built a loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve, her father, William Slack Jr., and her in-laws, Elijah Marion (Mutt) and Edna M (Farmer) York.

Dotty is survived by her mother, Sylvia, and five children, Cara Guadiana (Jason), Stephen York (Samantha), Meghan York (Tony Valenzuela), Leya Quiroz (Daniel (Danne) Jr.), and Philip York (Brianne). She was a doting grandmother to 14 grandchildren: Kiersten Benton, Gabriel Guadiana, Jacelyn & Kade York, Caleb & Brenden Philpot, Diego, Aeva & Ariah Valenzuela, Dannika, Wyatt & Stephen (Stevie) Quiroz, and Elijah & Roselyn York. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Liliana Gonzales, Mya & Levi Benton, Luka McCormick, and William York.

Dotty's legacy extends to her siblings: Cindy Burdette, Janie Loftus (Bob), Tina Gonzales (Alex), Susan K. Slack, and Peggy Valencia (Brian), as well as her brother, William (Gordy) Slack III. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Marian Gail Ballesteros and Winona Dale Barcon, and many nieces & nephews.

Dotty's warm heart, unwavering spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends will be profoundly missed. Her memory will be cherished forever by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dotty will be lovingly remembered for her radiant smile, generous heart, and the warmth she brought to everyone she met. She was an exceptional cook who delighted in hosting gatherings and parties, always looking elegant and graceful. Her passion for dancing, deep affection for her dogs, love of reading, and enjoyment of camping were central to her vibrant life. Dotty cherished the joy of listening to her family play guitars and had a knack for staying up late, savoring every moment with those she loved.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Dotty’s honor.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those you loved.
