Miami’s Hostetler Pool first of several town renovations

Last week in downtown Miami, workmen were adding cement for a new deck at Hostetler Pool, whose renovation Town Manager Alexis Rivera projected would be complete around July 4. Brand new tiles already line the pool’s edge, and Rivera said the redone facility will also have a water slide and four cabanas. The renovation is being undertaken by Aquavida Pools, of Phoenix.

Hostetler Pool is hardly the only improvement project coming to Miami. There is also the planned restoration of the historic Keystone stairs, using the town’s Community Development Block Grant funds. That project, Rivera said, is in the design phase, with the design being developed by RICK Engineering, of Phoenix.

Then there is the recently created walking path to the top of “M” Hill and its trio of crosses. Nor will that be the end of things. “We’re changing the town,” Rivera said. “We have a lot of stuff to do.”

By September, he added, the Town will be remodeling the basketball court adjacent to Hostetler Pool. There are also plans to add swings to the recently established playground area in Veterans Memorial Park and to repaint the park’s back wall. Rivera said that Sullivan Street, too, would see some refurbishment with new planters and larger banners along the street. A makeover is also in the works for Miami Town Hall, which will see new paint and a new Town logo. And, Rivera said, by the last quarter of 2024 the Town will be remodeling the small mural-bedecked “park” on Sullivan.
