Citizens Against Higher Taxes will be holding a community (Claypool, Central Heights, Lower Miami, Midland City and Little Acres) meeting Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m., at Bullion Plaza, 150 N. Plaza Circle in Miami.

The purpose of this forum is to address concerns regarding the multimillion-dollar wastewater project and how it impacts us as individual property owners and taxpayers.

We understand the need for a wastewater system for those individuals who need it. We also understand the health concerns and environmental issues that can come from cesspools and outdated septic systems. But we would like this done in the most cost-effective and transparent way possible since the financial burden will fall on the property owners.

Everyone in the district must hook up. Property owners will not only have a $35-45 monthly fee plus usage charge, we will also be carrying an annual “loan” payment based on the valuation of your property for 40 years. And we will continue to see an ad valorem tax annually. This amount is based on TRSD spending and the amount will be determined by property valuation.

TRSD is moving ahead with or without you. They are counting on your silence. We want to be heard but no one is listening.
