The Miami Vandals fell 52-29 at home against the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets.
“I thought we played a piece because we started out well, but the momentum let go and we just couldn’t keep up,” said Miami head coach Ken Vargas.
Miami trailed 14-8 after the first quarter; Eric Troglia and Aidan Guthrey scored for the Vandals.
In the second quarter Jaykob Armenta drilled a three-pointer and Kaleb Petty added a pair of free throws to get within one point, but the Yellow Jackets scored on the other end and timely defensive stops kept Miami at bay.
The Vandals trailed 22-15 at halftime, but a big third quarter propelled Blue Ridge.
The Yellow Jackets added 20 third-quarter points while holding Miami to just seven.
“Our energy changed and the drop-off was quick,” said Vargas of the third quarter.
Miami plays at Globe this Saturday in a rivalry matchup.
