The Miami football team picked up its first win of the season with a 27-19 victory over Chandler Prep on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Daniel Gutierrez led the Vandals with 169 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Jaime Pena ran for 82 yards, while Larenz Combs rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
Abram Castaneda hauled in a 48-yard reception from Gutierrez, while Eric Troglia caught one pass for 22 yards.
The Vandals are now 1-1 this season. They host Payson at 7 p.m. on Friday in Miami’s annual Homecoming game.
