The Globe Tigers remained unbeaten with Friday night’s 28-8 victory over the Arete Prep Chargers, in Globe’s first road game of the season. The 3-0 Tigers have put up three commanding wins, outscoring opposing teams 115-8. They are 1-0 in Section 2A Black, with a 34-0 opening-week win over the ALA-Anthem South Titans.

Next up for the Tigers are a Sept. 8 non-section home game against the 2-0 Tombstone Yellow Jackets, who have outscored their opponents 95-26, and the rivalry game with Miami for the Copper Kettle, at Ragus Field on Sept. 15. Globe is aiming to hold on to the Kettle, which they won from Miami with last season’s 12-7 victory.

This year’s Copper Kettle contest will be the first 2A Black matchup for the Vandals, who are off to an 0-2 start after falling 31-0 to the Scottsdale Prep Spartans on the road. Before hosting the Tigers, Miami will travel to the Valley for a Sept. 8 game with the undefeated Chandler Prep Titans (3-0).

One of Tombstone’s opponents was the San Carlos Braves, who fell to the Yellow Jackets 48-0 at home on Friday night. The 0-2 Braves’ next game is on the road, Sept. 8 against the 2-0 Pinon Eagles. San Carlos’ first section game is the following week, at home against the 1-1 Alchesay Falcons.

Rounding out Section 2A Black are the also-unbeaten Pima Roughriders (2-0), the 0-2 St. Johns Redskins, who will meet Pima in St. Johns on Sept. 15, and 0-3 (0-1 in section) ALA-Anthem South.
