High school athletes in Globe, Miami and San Carlos – like these Globe Tigers varsity football players practicing at Harbison Field – are looking forward to another fall season on the gridiron, the volleyball court and the cross country course. Football season kicks off August 18 for the Tigers, and August 25 for the Vandals and Braves, all of them opening with home games. Volleyball begins August 24, when San Carlos travels to Fort Thomas; the Lady Tigers and Lady Vandals open their seasons four days later, with home and road games respectively. And the schools’ cross country squads will take to the course this fall, starting with Miami, which will compete in an August 30 meet at Coolidge High School. (See the teams’ fall schedules below.)
