MIAMI — The Miami girls basketball team picked up its second Region win of the season on Jan. 16 with a 63-34 rout of San Miguel.
Aimee Hockaday had the best game of her career for the Lady Vandals (3-9 overall, 2-3 Region). The senior center set career highs with 29 points, 19 rebounds, and 8 steals. Stella Lopez scored a career-high 16 points and also contributed 3 steals and 2 rebounds.
Jessica Garcia nearly recorded a triple-double, as she finished with 9 points, 9 assists and 8 steals. Ariana Yniguez provided 5 points and 2 steals.
“That was the best game we have played so far this season,” said Miami coach Marc Marin. “The girls played with tremendous confidence and energy.”
On Jan. 17, Miami fell 65-35 to Fort Thomas. Hockaday again led the Lady Vandals in scoring, as she registered 11 points. Jasmin Perez scored 6 points.
Miami hosts St. Augustine on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
