Lady Tigers rally for win over Florence

The Globe High School Lady Tigers softball team rallied for a 7-5 region win over the Florence Lady Gophers last week at Noftsger Hill.

Florence took an early 3-0 lead before Globe’s Precious Bendle hit a solo homer in the bottom of the third inning to put the Lady Tigers on the board.

Florence added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before the Lady Tigers had a monstrous fifth inning, scoring five runs. Kaydance Tober started the inning getting walked. Bendle belted a double to center, advancing Tober to third.

Arianna Gatewood had an RBI double, scoring Tober and Bendle with a line drive to center field. Teagan Mercier had an RBI, scoring Gatewood. Khylee Tulk and Mercier crossed home plate as well to give the Lady Tigers a 6-5 advantage.

The Tigers added one more run in the bottom of the sixth on a Tulk RBI single.

Earning the win in the circle was Mercier, who pitched the full seven innings for Globe.

The Lady Tigers improved to 12-10 on the season and travel to Valley Christian this Friday for a 6 p.m. game.
