The High Desert Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team ran over the San Carlos Junior High Braves last week on the road. The Tigers were victorious 46-24.
“We are beating everyone but we lost to Cibecue,” said High Desert coach Carl Crass. “I got to play everyone tonight but Christian (Champan) and Leandro (Simbolo) played really well.”
The Tigers wasted little time jumping out to a commanding 15-0 lead behind the dynamic duo of Simbolo and Talent Pechuli. San Carlos ended their scoring drought with a three-pointer at the 1:59 mark but High Desert continued to run.
They led 20-7 after the first quarter with Simbolo and Pechuli combining for 17 points.
High Desert never looked back, taking a 27-12 halftime lead before running away in the second half.
Simbolo led the Tigers with 17 points.
“The 8th grade team is really good so it’s been really fun,” he concluded.
