William (Bill) Zufelt, 69

William (Bill) Zufelt, age 69, passed away March 8, 2017 at his home in Show Low, Ariz. He was born Oct. 23, 1947 to Wayne and Ollie Zufelt.

He is survived by Wendy Beatty (daughter) and Tim Beatty (son-in-law) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Tony Beatty (grandson) of Tucson, Ariz.; Ronnie Zufelt (brother) of Vista, Calif. and Michael Zufelt (nephew) of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by: Wayne Zufelt (father); Ollie Zufelt (mother) and Teddy Zufelt (brother).

Bill graduated from Miami High School in 1965 and then graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., majoring in forestry. He worked as the Southeast District Forester for the state of Alaska in Juneau, Alaska and for the BLM in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he lived in the Rosie Creek Area. He retired in 2000.

He currently lived in both Kearny, Arizona and Show Low, Arizona, where he enjoyed hiking and biking the trails and nearby roads, and observing birds, wildlife and local plant life. As Bill would say, “Well, that’s the news from Lake Wobegone.”

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday March 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, 6747 E. Broadway Road in Mesa, AZ 85206.
