Richard Kenneth Huggins, Sr. (Ken), passed away at his home on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Ken is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Catherine Gonzales (Joe Paul), son Benjamin Huggins, brother Robert “Cowboy” Huggins (Mona), 12 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Ethel Huggins, sons Richard Jr. and Timothy Huggins, grandson Andru Miles, brothers Glen, Lester, Billy Joe and Cliff Huggins, sisters Ruby and Ruth, and son-in-law Paul F. Corso, Jr. Ken was born and raised in Globe, Az., where he spent the majority of his life. He started working at Inspiration Copper Co. in 1969, and had planned on staying just a couple of years. However, in 2009, after 39 1/2 years, he retired from his position as a heavy equipment operator for Freeport McMoRan. Ken enjoyed retirement, traveling and doing projects around the house. He was a wonderful and talented person who was always willing to help anyone, and enjoyed teaching others. He was interested in many topics and an avid learner, always holding an interesting conversation with family and friends, as well as passing along great stories, and he always had a good joke on hand to make you laugh. Little children always took to “Papa,” and he really enjoyed teaching them how to do things and giving them his love and attention. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the American Legion Hall in Globe, Az. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; lunch will be served. Assisting the family with arrangements is Lamont’s Mortuary of Globe, Az.
