Patricia Louise “Pat” (Western) Lewis of Newport, RI, died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her daughter in Middletown, RI on Sunday, January 21, 2018, after a short illness.

Born on August 17, 1933, in Detroit, MI, she grew up in Miami, AZ. She was the daughter of Lawrence Glen “Larry” Western and Louise Anne (Smith) Tanner, and the step-daughter of James Frederick “Ted” Tanner.

On March 29, 1949, she married Charles Freeman “Chuck” Lewis, a career Air Force navigator who retired as a Major in 1972. Together they traveled the world while raising three daughters.

Pat was an accomplished artist, pianist, and vocalist who sang with a big band during the early 1950s. She loved cooking, reading, playing scrabble, crosswords, and all things Spanish. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Charles Frederick Lewis, a grandson, Jason Paul Megenhardt, a great-grandson, Beckham Rocco Megenhardt, her parents, and her stepfather.

She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Durham (George) of Newport, RI, Victoria Lewis (Tim Hench) of Middletown, RI, and Margaret Megenhardt (Bruce) of Tucson, AZ, 8 grandchildren, Katrina Eichenfeldt, Charles Durham (Alison), Danielle Tatro (Gary), Karl Eichenfeldt (Catarina), Shannon Hults (Gary), Jordan Megenhardt (Lindsay), Joshua Megenhardt, and Sara Megenhardt (Rhiannon), six great-grandchildren, her brother, Dan Lanphar (Jude) of Globe, AZ, her sister-in law, Lynn Lewis Petrangelo of Concord, CA, as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

At her request, there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
