Miami — The Miami baseball team had a total of nine players honored this year for All Region.
Mondo Garcia, Joe Castaneda and Diego Garcia earned first-team All Region, while Gabe Gomez, Zabe Saenz, Ryan Johnson, Adin Gilmore, Anthony Dzera, and Jayden Goss earned second-team All Region Mondo Garcia was named Player of the Year for Division 2A, South Region.
Coach JC Castaneda was named coach of the year. He said he was very happy about the honor, but it wasn’t just him. Castaneda said he was able to achieve the honor because of the help from his assistant coaches this season. The Vandals also received Most Improved Field in the region.
Mondo Garcia was also selected to play on the AZBCA All Star team on May 27 at 7 p.m. in Surprise. Diego Garcia was selected as an alternate player.
