Matthew “Matt” Hernandez, age 32, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Mesa, Arizona. Matt was born in Globe, Arizona on September 27, 1985 to his loving and caring parents, Arthur C. Hernandez and Joann Hernandez. He graduated from Miami High School. He served his country proudly as both a Sergeant and mechanic in the United States Army for six years and was stationed in Afghanistan, Korea and Germany. He was a skilled automotive mechanic. Matt’s favorite hobbies were model cars, hobby shops and lowriders. He “talked the talk and walked the walk” and lived by the motto “I’m chilled motivated by Life but Down to Earth…Live Life and be Merry”.
Matt loved spending time with his family and especially his son, Dominick. He also enjoyed taking Dominick on fishing trips. He was an avid sports fan and was a University of Arizona football fan.
He is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Hector Chiefy Montoya and his beloved cousin, Breelyn Cano.
He is survived by his loving and devoted girlfriend, Kimberly Acosta and her wonderful son, Angelo; his precious and loving son, Dominick Hernandez and his mother, Jennifer Gonzales; his loving and caring parents, Arthur C. Hernandez and Joann Hernandez; his loving sisters, Debrah Montolla Rodriguez, Lisa (Matthew) Guerrero, Yvonne (Cecilia) Hernandez and Susan Hernandez; his wonderful nieces, Vanessa, Felicia, Mattie and Reyna; and his wonderful nephews, Xavier and Emelio.
Funeral Services shall be as follows: Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 914 Sullivan Street, Miami, Arizona 85539; Rosary to follow at 9:30 a.m.; Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3751 E. US Highway 60, Miami, Arizona 85539.
