The Miami Lady Vandals varsity volleyball team went 1-1 in this season’s AIA Conference 2A state championships, losing 3-0 to the St. Johns Lady Redskins in Saturday’s first round matchup at Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Phoenix.

The Miami Lady Vandals varsity volleyball team went 1-1 in this season’s AIA Conference 2A state championships, losing 3-0 to the St. Johns Lady Redskins in Saturday’s first round matchup at Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Phoenix. Third-seeded St. Johns won the match 25-13, 25-11, 25-13. Miami was seeded 14th.
On Halloween night, Miami earned their way into the championship playoffs with a play-in round victory over the Kingman Academy Lady Tigers. Playing in their home gym, the Lady Vandals notched a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-12, 25-10). In the first set the Lady Tigers rallied to overcome a big Miami lead, closing to within a point, before the Lady Vandals pulled out the two-point win. Miami then controlled the next two sets.
Miami finished their season 18-8, coming in second in 2A Valley at 8-4.
