Ladislav (Lad) Charvat, age 86, passed away March 28, 2017 in Martinsburg, W.V. He was born April 21, 1930 to Anna (Mottlova) and Josef Charvat in Cachotin, Czechoslovakia.

A proud, naturalized U.S. citizen, Lad came to America in 1969. As an electrical engineer, he worked the mining industry at Climax molybdenum mine in Leadville, Co. and retired in 1994 from the Cyprus (formerly Inspiration) copper mine in Claypool, Ariz.

Lad moved to Inwood, W.V. in 2014 to be closer to his family. He enjoyed time with family, reading, cooking, and being outdoors. 

Lad was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. He is survived by Monica Taylor (daughter), Dean Taylor (son-in-law), Michael and Gabriel Taylor (grandsons); along with many relatives of the families Charvat, Cepl, Fiala, and Tlusty in the Czech Republic.  

A private, family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were entrusted to Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, W.V.
