Henry Elicio Martinez passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home on June 12, 2018 in Gilbert, Ariz., at the age of 89. He is now with the love of his life of 70 years, Connie Martinez.

Born on March 22, 1929 in Miami, Arizona to Pedro and Fedelina Martinez. He is survived by his daughter Yvonne Jones and sons Danny and Richard Martinez, 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Henry was in the Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor during World War II and received a victory medal. He and Connie lived most of their years together in Globe-Miami. He retired from the Inspiration Copper Mine. Henry became a minister and was an active and dedicated member of the community. He volunteered to council youth and inmates and those in need at the hospital.

Henry was a very devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed singing, dancing and telling stories. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind soul, a man of faith and a compassionate counselor. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh.

A viewing is scheduled on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Lamont Mortuary in Globe at 10:30 a.m., services at 11:00 a.m. followed by military honors burial at Globe Cemetery.

A reception will be held at American Legion for family and friends.
