Globe cruises past San Carlos 62-8 on Homecoming

The Globe Tigers blasted the San Carlos Braves 62-8 Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 on Homecoming.

The Tiger team captains included: #68 senior Jacob Jost, #20 junior Avirum Curiel, #11 senior Markell Woods, and #75 sophomore Ruben Garcia.

The Brave team captains included: #14 senior Xaivior Classey, #11 senior Eliah Victor, and #77 senior Artemio Upshaw.

The Tigers pooch kicked the opening kickoff, which was recovered by the Braves at the San Carlos 32 yard line.

The Braves first possession ended with a punt on fourth and eight. Globe’s #3 senior Michael Marquez returned the punt 70 yards for a touchdown. However, a late block in the back nullified the TD, bringing the ball back to the San Carlos 32.

With 3:29 to play in the first quarter, #7 junior quarterback Caden Hansen completed a 41 yard touchdown pass to #10 junior Seth Durbin. Hansen ran in the two point conversion to make the score 8-0.

On the opening play of the second quarter, Hansen completed a 45 yard touchdown pass to Marquez. Hansen ran in the two point conversion to extend the Tiger lead to 16-0.

Globe attempted an onside kick off and recovered the ball at the San Carlos 49.

The Tigers march 49 yards in four plays to score on a Curiel 12 yard touchdown run with 10:33 to play in the first half, lifting Globe to a 22-0 advantage.

With 7:52 left in the second quarter, Globe added to their lead when Curiel scored on a five yard touchdown run. Hansen ran in the two point conversion to make the score Globe 30, San Carlos 0.

At the 6:12 mark of the second quarter, Hansen scored on a three yard run. Curiel ran in the two point conversion to make the score 38-0.

On Globe’s next possession, the Tigers marched 45 yards in four plays, scoring on a Curiel one yard touchdown run with 35 seconds left in the first half. Curiel also ran in the two point conversion to extend Globes lead to 46-0.

At the 10:47 mark of the third quarter, Curiel went 46 yards for a touchdown. However, a block in the back penalty nullified the score, bringing the ball back to the San Carlos 30.

On the next play, Curiel sprinted 30 yards for a touchdown. He also ran in the two point conversion to make the score Globe 56, San Carlos 0.

The Braves returned the kickoff their 27 yard line.

San Carlos drove 73 yards in 10 plays to get on the scoreboard on a Classay nine yard touchdown pass to Victor with 1:38 to play in the third quarter. Classay ran in the two point conversion to make the score Globe 56, San Carlos 8.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Globe senior quarterback #8 Abrahm Aragon ran 45 yards for a Tiger touchdown. The two point conversion failed, leaving what turned out to be the final score Globe 62, San Carlos 8.

The Tigers travel to Chandler Prep Friday, October 11 with the kickoff set for 7 p.m., while the Braves travel to Miami with Miami’s Homecoming game set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
