Globe Coed Cheer heads to state qualifiers in Buckeye

Globe — The Globe Tiger Coed Cheer is competing at the state qualifiers on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The rules have  changed on how many teams move ahead to state.

Out of the 20 Coed teams, 8 will move on. Partner stunt will be the top 5 and for Pom the top five teams move on.

The team has been practicing four days a week for 2 hours a day, Pom additional hour and partner stunts additional hour added to each practice.

Two weeks before competition the practices were extended to 3 hours a day.

The practices are ended with a high intensity interval workout to enhance their strength and endurance.

The team started attending a tumbling class at Power Elite Dance Academy twice a week to improve in their flexibility and handsprings. These classes began in the summer for anyone wanting to improve any areas of training 

Coaching the back to back state champion team is Linda Noriega, Jan Shumway and Connie Callaway.

The qualifiers will be held at Verrado High School located at 20050 W Indian School Rd in Buckeye, Az. Globe competes at 1:45 p.m. for Partner Stunt, 3 p.m. for Coed Pom and at 3:50 p.m. for Coed Cheer. The cost is $12/Adult; $10/Senior & Military w/ ID; $5 Students w/ HS ID (Re-Entry Allowed).
