Miami — On May 22, Miami police officers responded to US Highway 60, mile post 244.8 in reference to a single-vehicle collision. Officers arrived to find one utility pole snapped in half and a white pickup with its rear end hanging over the roadway curb and into the wash.
The investigation indicated that the driver was traveling westbound on US Highway 60 and lost control of the vehicle, causing extensive damage to the utility pole and pickup. Officers determined the driver was under the influence of an illegal substance. Officers confiscated approximately 14 grams of heroin, several items of drug paraphernalia to include packaging material and a scale, a handgun and items believed to be stolen property.
Jason Sutton, 18, was arrested and charged for possession of narcotic drugs, possession for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and misconduct involving a weapon. The Gila County Narcotics Drug/Gang/Violent Crimes Task Force were also called to the scene and assisted with the investigation.
