Gila County — Hot temperatures and increased fire danger have prompted fire officials to implement fire restrictions for the Tonto National Forest. The restrictions began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday May 23. Most types of fire or fire-causing activities are prohibited across the entire Tonto National Forest.
Gila County Ordinance 11-02 stipulates that each time the Tonto National Forest issues fire restrictions, similar restrictions will apply to all unincorporated areas within Gila County. Therefore, fire restrictions for all unincorporated areas within Gila County also began at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23.
