Wednesday Hardscrabble: Music helped settled the Southwest

Posted

Music heard in the community in the early days of its development is the focus of December’s Wednesday Hardscrabble program on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum in Miami, located at 50 N Plaza Cir.

Join local musician Mariano Gonzales on an audio journey of our community’s musical heritage.

Also available will be a new booklet, “Christmas in Many Lands… Miami: The Great Melting Pot of the Nation,” a collection of over 30 interviews in the Dec. 15, 1920 issue of the Arizona Silver Belt, of how they celebrated Christmas in their native land. The booklets are $5 each and are available at Bullion Plaza Cultural Center and Museum and the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts.

For more information, call 928-473-3700.

Wednesday Hardscrabble programs are hosted jointly by the Gila County Historical Museum in Globe and Bullion Plaza Cultural Center & Museum in Miami. Programs are always free (although donations help pay utilities and bring in great programs).
