The Oxbow Outfits & Payson Petticoats bring their Old West drama to Young, this month: re-enacting the first gunfight of the Pleasant Valley War on Saturday, July 20, during the annual Pleasant Valley Days events. Their performance is scheduled after the High Noon rifle raffle. Pleasant Valley Community Council welcomes volunteers interested in helping with the venerable tradition of Pleasant Valley Days, during this 30th year for the event.

Every July the infamous Pleasant Valley War is remembered, and local history celebrated, on the third weekend during Pleasant Valley Days. Past year’s events have included historical society talks about the feud, tours of sites that played a part in the events; a parade, barbecue, crafts displays, and rodeo.
The Perkins Store, site of a famous and bloody ambush, and now a museum, is open to the public. Except for food and drink, nearly everything is free. Watch for up to dare event info to be posted at
Welcome Team Ropers to the 15th Annual Ted Meredith Memorial Team Roping Event.
Other events include “Ironman” on Saturday in the community center.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will have peddle car racing on the east side of the community center. Saturday at ‘High Noon’ following the rifle raffle, gunfighter re-enactors will perform and re-create the first gunfight of the Pleasant Valley War.
