Del and Becky Phillips Celebrate 60 Years of Marriage!

Lifelong residents of Globe, Ariz., Del and Becky Phillips (maiden name, Ramsey) celebrated their 60th anniversary on Thursday, June 18, 2020. The couple met while attending Globe High School and married soon after graduation. A year later they welcomed their first of four daughters into the world and those daughters gave them 13 grandchildren who blessed them with 26 great grandchildren that absolutely adore their “Papa and Gigi”. All four daughters and 10 of 13 grandchildren also graduated from GHS and you can still often find the family gathered at Del and Becky’s family home, which they have lived in for over 55 years.

Mr. Phillips worked for over 40 years with the local copper mine while Mrs. Phillips retired from The Gila County Courthouse but has since returned to help part-time, after working several years at The Law Offices of Thompson, Montgomery, and DeRose. Lifelong members of the Elks Lodge and Emblem Club, the two have always been active in the community and can often be found helping local companies and friends with any projects they need assistance with.

Last year the couple traveled to see their youngest grandson, Lane, whom is a Marine stationed in Hawaii and while there, they attended a Luau in which they were recognized as being married the longest among the crowd. When asked what the key to a long, happy marriage is, Del quickly responded, “I just do what I am told.” With that, Becky smiled and politely nodded but informed the family later that he was lying because he does not actually do that. There may not be any one secret to a long, happy marriage, but these two continue to set an example for their “Phillips Nation.”

Happy 60th anniversary Del and Becky!
