2018 Globe Downtown Association Annual Light Parade winners

The Globe Downtown Association extended thanks to the 2018 parade Grand Marshal, Carmen Slough, at 104 years of age, escorted in a Model T that was 102 years old.

Additional thanks go out to the GDA team, the City of Globe Police, Fire, Public Works and Emergency Management Teams, as well as Gila County Sheriff’s Office and the ROTC Program for their partnership on this huge downtown event.

This year, the extravaganza included the Broad Street Beard Battle, the Read-On Express and the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts and Holy Angels Church Bazaar events, which filled several blocks with participants.

GDA thanks go out every one who made Globe Historic Downtown a wonderful holiday destination.

Best Mounted Riders: Duane Buzan;

Best Lighted Vehicle: Tailwaggers, Charlene Giles;

Best Use of Theme: "The Nightmare before Christmas," Arizona Department of Corrections, Lt. S. Dalmolin;

Best Local Organization: Power Elite Dance Academy, Tina McCarey;

Best Commercial Entry: "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree," APS;

Best Music Presentation: Miami High School Band, Nolan Frost and Kathleen Mercer;

Best Use of Lights: "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree,”, Nathan Mancha; and,

Honorable Mention: "Mr. Grinch," Copper State Sanitation, David Powell.

Local gift certificates were purchased for the winners from the following GDA members: Noel’s Sweets and Gifts, Pickle Barrel, United Jewelry, Las Casita Downtown, and Bloom, An Asian Concept.
