Bill Nowak (middle) won the 17th annual Sunrise Challenge 5K on Saturday morning at Round Mountain, while Tricia McBride was the first female finisher. Nowak finished the race in 35 minutes, 29 seconds, while McBride’s time was 50 minutes, 17 seconds. Nowak is pictured with Paula Horn of Gila County Health and Emergency Management and Globe Rotary Club president Mike Volckmann.
The race was put on by the Globe Rotary Club, City of Globe Public Works and Gila County Health and Emergency Management. Other sponsors of this year’s race included Southwest Gas, APS, Dairy Queen, Desert Oasis Wellness Center, Copper Basin Coalition, State Farm-Cami Lucero, Lamont Mortuary, CVRMC, Edward Jones-Gregg Parisoff, Heritage Health Care Center and Stanley Gibson.
