MIAMI — Jasenia Quezada and Jessica Garcia earned postseason accolades for their work with the Miami girls basketball team this season.

Quezada, a sophomore point guard, was named Second-Team All-Region for the 2A South Region. She was the only player not from San Carlos, Desert Christian or Globe to be named to the All-Region team.

Quezada averaged a team-high 10.1 points per game during Region play, including 12.7 points per game over the Lady Vandals’ final nine games. She also led Miami with 18 three-pointers, 37 assists and 85 steals.

At Miami’s postseason banquet on Friday, Quezada was also named Miami’s Offensive MVP.

Junior shooting guard Jessica Garcia earned Honorable Mention status on the All-Region team. She posted per-game averages of 4.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.4 steals and led Miami with 101 deflections. She was named Miami’s Defensive MVP.

“Jasenia and Jessica were both very deserving of the recognition they received,” Miami coach Marc Marin said. “They were our leaders all season, and I could count on them every single game. I look forward to their continued improvement next season.”
