Miami — Chilel Jawara (MHS Class of 2017) recently left for NAU with best wishes from MHS alumni. She was awarded the Miami Memories Scholarship for 2017 thanks to fundraising activities at the recent Miami High School Reunion of Classes (MHSROC).

Miami Memories thanks John Sandoval and the reunion committee for allowing Miami Memories to sell Miami photographs and greeting cards at the reunion to raise money for the scholarship. Because of the kindness and generosity of many MHS alumni, and with special thanks to Ronnie and Angie Lopez (Class of 1965) for their generous donation, checks totaling $4,000 were sent to NAU for Chilel. MHS alumni signed a poster of M Hill wishing Chilel success in her studies at NAU and in her future endeavors. John Sandoval (Class of 1961) and chairman of the MHSROC committee  and Jay Phillips (Class of 1965) of Miami Memories Scholarship Fund, enjoyed lunch with Chilel and her mother, Maria, at Guayo’s El Rey in Miami.
