Late last month, the Town of Superior received a $733,000 water and waste disposal loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The funds will provide the Town with added financing as it aims to make wastewater system repairs.
According to an August 28 USDA press release, wastewater tanks in Superior were found to have “major rust and deterioration, making them unsafe for use.” The loan will facilitate rehabilitation measures needed to meet structural and safety codes. It was part of a $3.5 million USDA investment in rural Arizona that was announced on the 28th.
“We are grateful for this important funding to continue to improve our Wastewater Treatment Plant,” Superior Mayor Mila Besich told the Silver Belt. “Ensuring we have a strong and reliable infrastructure will provide Superior a strong foundation for future growth. We appreciate the funding from the USDA and their ongoing support for rural America.”
