The Globe High varsity football Tigers opened their 2024 season Friday night, hosting the Pima Roughriders – a team coming off a 13-1 record last year – in a conference match at Harbison Field. Unfortunately, in a game played under stormy skies in the first half, it would not be the Tigers’ night. It ended in a 41-0 Roughriders victory, with Pima senior Jeremiah Martinez rushing for 182 yards and two touchdowns. No statistics for Globe were available at press time.
The Tigers are 0-1 in Section 2A Black, while Pima joined San Carlos atop the conference at 1-0.
Next up for Globe is an August 30 road game, a non-conference affair against the Santa Rita Eagles.
