Along with the late Ken Vargas, another highly accomplished Miami coach was honored before the Vandals’ Homecoming game Friday night.
Don Wilson has coached for Miami schools for more than 40 years, in a variety of sports, and been the announcer for Vandals varsity football games for more than 22 years. Friday evening before the Vandals took on Alchesay, the Ragus Stadium press box at Miami High School was officially named the Don Wilson Press Box in his honor – an occasion marked by an on-field ribbon cutting ceremony.
Watching the event from his seat in the newly named press box, Wilson expressed his thanks for the tribute and his hope he could “stick around [in the announcer’s booth] for another 10 or 15 years.”
