Orlando “Shorty” Belvado

Orlando “Shorty” Belvado, age 63, of San Carlos, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was born in San Carlos, Arizona, the son of Dutch and Opal (Reede) Belvado.

He was a big fan of the Phoenix Suns basketball team and liked watching football and T.V. documentaries. Shorty would read his Bible first and foremost and enjoyed music and singing, as he would say “A joyful noise unto the Lord.”  He also had a collection of hats, ties and suspenders. Caring for his cat “Tiny” was Shorty’s joy every day.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Kelly) Belvado, his son Nolan Sulu, his brother Anthony Belvado, his sister Charlene Wauneka, his step-daughters Sherrilyn Allison Mack (Leslie), Louise Allison and Claudia Allison, 10 grandchildren, four (4) great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Opal Belvado, son Danielle Sulu, uncle and aunt Phillip and Nora Reede, and aunt Madiline Reede (“Mom Maddie”).

Thank you all who have been so supportive through prayers, phone calls, words of encouragement. Those willing to help in any way. This is much appreciated. God loves you and so do I. Much love and blessings to Pastor Kevin and Pam Barthel.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Gilson Wash Baptist Church in San Carlos, Arizona.

Interment will follow at Chinatown Cemetery in Peridot, Arizona.
