Joe Paul Medina died peacefully at home on Oct. 31, 2024 at the age of 80.  Joe is survived by his wife Darlene (Troglia) Medina of Globe, Az.; son Joe Paul Medina Jr. of Mesa, Az.; daughter Paula (Medina) Horn and son-in-law Cliff Horn of Globe, Az.; daughter Angela Medina of Globe, Az.; brother James Medina of Globe, Az.; grandchildren Kristen Dotts, Vincent Medina, Victoria Medina, Roberto Valenzuela, Viviana Medina, Belinda Medina, Valerie Medina, and Sophia Moreno; and great-grandchildren Skylar Gordon and Emiliano Valenzuela.  He was preceded in death by his brother Joe Lewis, father Jose C. Medina, and mother Irene Limon (Martinez) Medina.

Joe Paul was born and raised in Globe.  He was an all-around athlete with football being his passion.  At Globe High School he met the love of his life Darlene Troglia and they were together  for over 64 years.  Joe Paul went to Eastern Arizona College after high school to play football.  He returned to the Globe-Miami area where he began working for Purity Brands Bottling, various jobs and fighting forest fires. Joe Paul was an exceptionally hard worker and began his long career at the copper mines where he retired after 40-plus years.  His pastimes included hunting, camping, fishing, 4-H with the kids, anything sports, and he was an avid weightlifter including coaching and motivator. 

Joe Paul was one of the most generous and giving people. He loved his family and enjoyed having his grandkids around. He touched a lot of people’s lives and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 with visitation at 10 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass following at 11 a.m.
