Globe Unified School District is moving to a semester schedule for the 2024/25 school year. According to a recent update from the district there will be two semesters each school year, fall and spring. This is consistent with a traditional school model.
The district has also lengthened the school day to gain much-needed time in the classroom. The new start and stop times for each school are as follows: Copper Rim Elementary School, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; High Desert Middle School, 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Globe High School, 8:25 a.m. to 3: 45 p.m. The first day of school is Monday, July 29.
GUSD states that these changes are to provide longer instructional time that will allow for more learning, growth, increased rigor and more opportunity for hands-on experiences. Detailed bell schedules and bus schedules can be found on the district website and will be sent out by individual schools.
Registration events and meet the teacher events have also been scheduled for the weeks before school starts. GUSD encourages families to watch the website and social media for updates. Emails and other parent communication will be sent to parents/guardians for whom they have contact information.
