Drive-thru food & hygiene drive October 12

Posted

Volunteers will collect items essential for those in need on Saturday morning, Oct. 12 during the autumn drive-up-and-drop-off event in Claypool, and your donations can make a huge impact.

Hosted by Gila County Public Health and Community Services in collaboration with the Homeless Coalition of Cobre Valley and the Sara K Foundation, the collection repeats the convenient and successful model of a quarterly drive-up-and-drop-off event at 4247 Broadway in Claypool. Please enter on the side of the Tri-City Fire Department; volunteers will be onsite to help unload boxes or sacks from your vehicle. Donations by check or money order are most welcome, too: please address those to the Homeless Coalition of Cobre Valley.

Organizers suggest donating new, un-opened: canned soup or stew, peanut butter, canned fruits and veggies, bottled water, canned chicken and tuna, canned beans,  snacks such as granola bars, seeds, chips, canned ravioli, Vienna sausage, crackers, ready-to-eat rice, Spam, jerky sticks, potted meat. Can openers are also a thoughtful donation – as well as toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper, lotion, lip balm, socks and menstrual products.
