Corleen “Corky” Walker of Mesa, Arizona, passed on to her heavenly home on Dec. 19, 2023, at the age of 92

Charles William Jackson, age 50, of Globe, Arizona, passed away on Dec. 11, 2023.

On Thursday night, the Miami High School girls varsity basketball team faced the unbeaten Show Low Lady Cougars, a team one sports site ranked first in the state, and handed the visitors their first loss of the season.

Henry Gus Colvin Jr. passed away Dec. 12, 2023, at the age of 88 at his home in Prescott Valley surrounded by family after a battle with liver cancer.

The Globe Downtown Association held a ceremony at the Globe Train Depot on Dec. 21 to give awards to the winners of the 2023 Globe Christmas Light Parade.

The Miami Police Department proudly announced that, with the help of W. Steven Martin, his staff and his annual 911 Toy Drive, they were able to help families in the community have gifts for their children for Christmas.

On December 18, Freeport-McMoRan announced that the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation had awarded $295,000 in Globe and Miami as part of just over $3 million awarded to 55 projects in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, New Mexico and Texas through its Community and Social Investment Fund process.
