MIAMI — The Miami football team evened its record at 3-3 with a 16-14 victory over Tempe Prep.
Miami’s defense carried the Vandals, holding the Knights to just six points. Tempe Prep scored its other eight points on a kickoff return and the ensuing two-point conversion. Luke Olvera scored a rushing touchdown for Miami in the first quarter, but the Knights held the Miami offense scoreless the rest of the game.
With less than two minutes remaining in the game, Austin Higginbotham and Emiliano Flores Garcia combined to put the game away for Miami. Higginbotham sacked the Tempe Prep quarterback in the end zone, causing a fumble that Flores Garcia recovered for the decisive touchdown.
