Town of Miami to establish rates and fees

MIAMI — The town of Miami intends to establish rates and fees related to Wastewater  Services for receiving sewage at its septic receiving station. These rates will only be for the receiving station and will not affect the rates for the the residents. Teh septic receiving station currently charges a flat rate and the concentration of the chemicals determine the cost of treatment. The chart was based on another receiving station with a community close to the size of Miami.

The Miami Memorial Library is working on the Great American Solar Eclipse and handed out glasses to everyone in attendance at the meeting. Miami was one of 1,000 libraries to receive the free glasses for the solar event from the science department and NASA.

The most recent utility billing report showed a difference of just over 13,000 was the difference left owed. The town is improving on its collection of accounts owed, and to further the results for delinquent accounts, the town is buying locks for the services. Letters have gone out to residents to keep them informed of their statuses. Miami has set up Xpress bill Pay-Auto Pay for the residents to pay from the comfort of their home. Gila Community College donated a storage shed to the town of Miami to be used at the Hosteler pool. The program is a carpentry construction class that worked on the project and built a 10x12x20 shed and at no cost to the town. This program gives the students the experience they need to further their careers.

The council approved Resolution No. 1197, a residential anti displacement and relocation assistance plan for FY 2017/2018, which is part of the Fair Housing act and needed to apply for grants.
