Town of Miami announces clean-up day

Posted

Miami — The Town of Miami is having a community clean-up day on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clean-up will begin at the Library and dumpsters will be provided by Copper State Sanitation.

This clean-up will give local residents a chance to spring clean their properties and make sure their properties meet town codes. There are specific codes that refer to the maintenance and safety of properties.

A copy of the Town codes can be found at Town Hall or the Miami Memorial Library. Code enforcement officer Josh Derhammer has been talking with local residents whose properties aren’t up to code. He will have a friendly conversation, letting people know what the rules and giving them two weeks before a follow-up visit.

As long as Derhammer is seeing progress, he gives more time. All of this goes along with getting the sewer accounts and trash accounts updated. The town offers a garbage service for $35 a month, as well as special pick up services. If the owners do not start cleaning up their property, they can be fined starting at $100.

For more information, contact Josh Derhammer at 928-473-9052, ext. 20 or miamicodeenforcement@cableone.net.
