Posted

Tommy Glen Johnson was born July 20, 1946 and passed on July 10, 2018 under hospice care at his sister’s residence in Globe, Ariz. Tommy was residing with his sister, in her home. For the past 26 years, Tommy’s primary residence was in San Manuel, Ariz. Tommy was preceded in death by both of his parents, Tom Edward and June Johnson. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Taylor; Edward (Jayne) Willkett (nephew); Michelle Eason (niece); six great-nephews and nieces and numerous great-great-nephews and nieces as well as many cousins.

Tommy is one of those rare natives. He was born in the Inspiration Hospital in Miami, Ariz. His education consisted of graduation from Miami High School and seven years at university, which culminated in a BSHS degree in Industrial Hygiene. During his high school years, he enjoyed playing the bass fiddle and singing in a trio with Dr. White and Whitney Jones. Tommy learned to play many musical instruments. If you knew Tommy, he certainly had not reached his final height of 6’1” during his freshman year of high school and was quite thin! Picture the image of a person of that stature, playing a tuba!

His occupation was Industrial Hygienist in mining and government industries. His entry into the Army was as PV1 and his rank upon discharge was Sargent. He was stationed in Europe.

One of Tommy’s favorite relaxations was water skiing at Roosevelt and Apache Lakes; He was very good!

Tommy’s wish was that there be cremation and no memorial or funeral service. His wish is being adhered to. Tommy will be greatly missed by his family, friends and relatives. We, the family, would like to express our thanks and appreciation to Thema Hospice and staff and caregivers for all their professionalism, kindnesses, caring, tenderness and support during this time. This appreciation is also extended to Science Care.
