Tommie Nels Rasmussen, 84, of Globe passed away on Nov. 2, 2021.

Tommie was born on Aug. 20, 1937 in Pima, Az. He was the first child born in the family and two sisters would follow later. He loved music and became a gifted trumpet player, and later changed to the baritone. He placed high in all musical competitions that were held at the college in Thatcher every spring, winning the outstanding musician award.

He attended Eastern Arizona College for two years and began a career in law enforcement at a detention center at Ft. Grant. After a few years he relocated to Globe and was an investigator for the Gila County Attorney’s Office until he retired.

Tom met his forever companion Mary Ann in Globe and they were married for 47 years. After retirement, Tom and Mary Ann bought a second home in Eagar, where summers were spent and he raised a garden every year. You could find him and Mary Ann most mornings or evenings on the lake fishing.

Tommie is survived by his two sisters Mary Jean Alder and Joy Brown, his son Tim, grandsons Michael and Tim, granddaughter Rachel, daughter-in-law Edlin, and great grandchildren Rachael and Aiden.

Services will be held with family on January 29 in Pima.
